Château Lafite Rothschild is one of the most famous wine estates in the world and one of only five Bordeaux first growths. When Baron Eric de Rothschild bought vineyards in Chile in 1988, he was well ahead of his competitors in spotting the enormous potential of this winemaker’s paradise.He took winemakers from Lafite, used ex-Lafite barrels and all the expertise acquired from running one of the world’s top vineyards. Consequently, what is most striking about these wines is their perfect balance of New World fruit and Old World elegance.Casablanca is renowned for producing the best Sauvignon in Chile, so it’s no surprise the Rothschilds chose this region.
