South Ridge Blanc de Blancs 2014

Sussex

With the same chalk clay soil as found in Champagne and a similar climate, it’s no wonder this family estate’s Trophy winning sparklers have got the French twitching. The Blanc de Blancs has finesse and toasty complexity to rival the best – anywhere.

Since 2000 the Roberts’ superb Ridgeview sparklers have notched up over 120 awards. That includes two Trophies in 2018 at the prestigious IWSC, for ‘Winemaker of the Year’ and ‘Best English producer’. The Daily Telegraph described the family’s sparkling wines, as “Higher quality than Champagnes costing nearly three times as much”, while The Guardian enthused “English sparkling fizz at its best”. They were the bubbles of choice at Her Majesty’s 80th birthday lunch, too. This is their flagship fizz, their Blanc de Blancs – pure Chardonnay, handcrafted every step with secondary ferment in bottle, just like Champagne. Crisp, elegant with Chardonnay’s classic creamy length and showing all the delicious quality that you’d expect of this estate.
