Inspired by the magnificent whites of the Rhône Valley, this white is created specially for us by Languedoc friends at the Cave de Cébezan. Clefs du Pontif comes from vineyards near the humble town of Argeliers, tucked away in sun-kissed southern France. Marsanne, the key grape of white Hermitage and a mainstay of white Châteauneuf-du-Pape, adds ripe fruit and weight to aromatic, floral-scented Viognier (as it does for many of the Rhône’s top whites), while lees ageing increases creamy depth and roundness. Apricot and white peach with mouthfilling texture and blossom notes lead to a fresh-cut grass finish. Versatile with food, this tasty drop can be enjoyed with salads or white meats. It’s also a wine to pore over, then pour another glass!
