Albariño used to be a little-known grape of NW Spain. Recently it has shot to stardom, adored for its Sauvignon-like freshness with extra richness. Little was grown outside Galicia - until recently that is. Now, look, even South Africa has taken it to their hearts. This is a fresh, summery white from the great Spier Estate in premium Stellenbosch, winner of 'South African Wine Producer of the Year' in 2011 and 2018, also Editor's Choice 'Winery of the Year 2022' awarded by Platter. They're also one of the Cape's oldest wineries, proud of the many community projects they run, under the banner 'Growing for Good', for which they've won a top Ethical award this year. Albariño is a new venture for them and this white is a terrific introduction.
