Les Folies Coudraies Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Vin de France

Another cracking Loire vintage has produced this sensational crisp, lemony white. Our Buyer, Jehan, returned from a trip to the region and this was his stand out for quality and value. Intense citrus and grassy fresh character, supremely refreshing.

The Loire is, of course, a chief source of ravishingly fresh, zippy Sauvignon Blanc. Out of all the wines our buyer, Jehan Sacaze, tasted on his last tasting trip out there – and he tasted hundreds – this was the white that stood out for quality and value. It's from a cellar supplied by many small growers from across the region – from Muscadet in the west to Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé in the east. The winemaker is the young and talented Frédéric Moreau, who says there is no ready made recipe – each year he has to adapt to the conditions and character of the grapes. 2019 was the sixth consecutive outstanding vintage for the lucky Loire and this white is brimful of ripe, grassy freshness. Chill down and serve solo or with salads or seafood.

"My star buy from my trip in early 2020. Perfect balance of incisive lemony zip and ripe fruit" Jehan Sacaze
