This is part of the great Stellenrust's Rare Series of releases. They are a remarkable estate, making really individual wines. This is top of the range Shiraz, very naturally made from a single block of vines and barrel aged for 16 months. Knockout.

Founded in 1600s, Stellenrust is one of the most important family wineries in South Africa. The Van der Westhuizen family took ownership in 1928, with today's Tertius Boshoff and Kobie Van der Westhuizen in charge since 1999. They are a formidable force, highly rated by Wine Magazine SA: "The rise of the Stellenrust brand is frankly remarkable." Together they work spectacular vineyards in the renowned Stellenbosch Golden Triangle, and produce remarkable, limit pushing wines. There's a real sense of family here too, that extends to the vineyard and winery workers. A dentist by training, Tertius is a self taught, 5-star winemaking. Just taste his Blueberry Hill Shiraz, so rich and flavour-packed, with spice from 16 months in oak.
