Critic Robert Parker said Taylor’s “must certainly be the Latour of Portugal”. He added, the wines have an inner strength and firmness that keep them going on for decades." Awarded 95 Points by Suckling, the 2005 is gorgeous, perfumed and luscious.
A rare opportunity to secure some superb 2005 vintage port from Taylor’s, a port house with a reputation for producing arguably the finest and most ageworthy vintage wines. Their releases regularly receive 94 points and above from top critics. Taylor’s own three estates (quintas) in the Douro and their Quinta de Vargellas is reputed to be their finest, providing the backbone to their Vintage port. This is their superb Single Quinta release. Suckling described the 2005: "This is top class with so much perfume and flower aromas," and awarded it 95 points. Just beginning to open up, it's best poured into a jug or decanter an hour or so in advance and savoured slowly. Alternatively tuck away in a cool, dark place and enjoy in years to come.
"Ttop class with so much perfume and flower aromas. Violets galore. Full body yet refined and tight"
