Viña del Perdon Gran Reserva is made for us by Bodegas de Sarria in Navarra, Rioja’s next-door neighbour Gran Reservas are the pinnacle of Spanish winemaking; only made in exceptional years and from the finest quality grapes. Navarra is particularly interesting to wine lovers because due to its location, its wines have been strongly influenced by France as well as neighbouring RiojaViña del Perdon has Rioja’s vanilla and spice complexity. But it is blended from classic Bordeaux varieties, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and has a smoothness and elegance akin to classic claret. Having spent three years ageing in oak barrels and five years in bottle , with layers of soft red berries interwoven with spice, cedar and smoke, it’s perfect with beef or game.
