Domaine de la Bastide is situated in the village of Visan and has a long history of making superb wines. It was the Knights Templar who first established vineyards on the property before it became a Benedictine, then a Dominican monastery. Partially destroyed in the French Revolution, it returned to be a winemaking force to be reckoned with when the Boyer family purchased it in 1989.
A truly authentic, hand crafted Cotes du Rhone, this kind of quality at this kind of price is increasingly rare. We are very grateful to have a long standing relationship with this excellent producer
Today, it is run by Vincent and Stephanie Boyer who both have long family histories of winemaking and who both are Vignerons Indépendent, a passionate group of winemakers who represent ‘authentic wines and personalities’
This blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan is made from the ripest, healthiest grapes possible, grown on vines up to 50 years old and following organic principles
Tasting note:On the nose it displays vibrant red berries with hints of rosemary, thyme and lavender that grow in abundance in this area of the Rhône. Expect ripe bramble fruit and hints of black cherry together with pepper and spice on the finish.
