The Silver Route (named after La Ruta Via de la Plata) is a luscious, rich red from Extremadura in western Spain. This frontier region is the size of Switzerland, yet has just a million inhabitants. It also has an abundance of cork trees, oaks, black Iberian pigs, and old vines, the age of which ensures intense, ripe, juicy wines.The Silver Route comes from 100% Tempranillo hand-picked from ancient bush vines in the remote vineyards of ExtremaduraIt’s thanks to these old vines that it’s packed with mouth-filling, juicy, sweet fruitA small amount is aged in oak barrels to give an extra layer of complexity to the red cherry and summer compote flavours. Pronounced strawberry and sweet red cherry jam aromas with a matching sweet cherry palate. Very moreish with a good acidity and smooth finish, it’s a great match for cold meats and cheeses.
