Vin de France is an interesting category as it covers the whole of France, so it allows winemakers to be much more creative with their blending. So this Pinot Noir comes largely from the Languedoc but a touch of Burgundy grapes can be added into the blend. Whilst the majority of wines in the Vin de France category are great value, everyday drinking wines, it’s increasingly used by winemakers rebelling against the strict appellation rules.D’Autrefois Pinot Noir comes to us courtesy of La Compagnie des Vins d’Autrefois, a Beaune negociant renowned for offering the widest range of estate and single domaine Burgundy in the region Artfully blended from 100% Pinot Noir, mainly from the Languedoc D’Autrefois Pinot Noir is a fabulous expression of Pinot Noir . Aromas of black cherry and bramble fruit lead into a silky palate with hints of spice and cocoa on the finish from barrel ageing. A great match for charcuterie and cheeses.
