Founders Rita and Virgilio started the Tua Rita property as farmers, but their passion for wine gained the upperhand. Their two-hectare vineyard has grown, nearly 40 years later, to 30 and they have progressed from 'garage' winemakers to a small, gravity-fed cellar, and their wines gain top scores from the world's toughest critics. The property lies in Val di Cornia, between the Tyrrhenian sea and Colline Metallafere, in much-desired Maremma (home to top names Sassicaia and Tignanello). This is their pure Sangiovese from the pebble and clay soils of upper Maremma. With a very light touch of oak, its cherry fruit freshness is to the fore, making it great early drinking, yet it'll keep happily in the cellar too. A great foil for rich pasta.
