Jeff Carrel is one of Southern France’s best loved and most energetic winemakers. Wine Advocate rated the 2017 vintage of this rosé 88 points (unheard of for rosé at such a low price) and Terre de Vins concludes “the talent of the man is outrageous”. Previous vintages have also won Jeff two Gold medals from the leading French wine guide, Gilbert & Gaillard. Made purely from Cinsault, it is pale salmon pink, with lush strawberry and raspberry aromas and a crisp, lemony finish. The vines are more than 35 years old and produce small yields of concentrated fruit, which gives this pink lots of juicy, ripe berry flavours. But there’s also a finesse akin to a Provence rosé that makes it a perfect match for a Salade Niçoise or grilled fish.
