If you want history, Vincent Boyer's family domaine is full of it! Formerly run by Benedictine monks and before that by Knights Templar, it's now in the hands of 3rd-generation Vincent Boyer. He has artefacts galore to prove its antiquity, including ancient coins and a centuries' old wine vat. The Boyer family bought it in 1989 (the grandfather leased it before that) and today Vincent and Stephanie run the fine Visan estate. This flagship red is a tribute to Vincent's dad who died in 2008. From a tiny, ultra-stony vineyard, it's a very pure red, mostly Syrah with a splash of Grenache. Vincent combines modern precision winemaking with tradition and gets the best from both. For now, open early and serve with grilled meats or a herby bake.
