Vincent Grall has just 3.8 hectares of vines, making him the second smallest producer in Sancerre. That means he can lavish the sort of personal attention on his wines that is impossible for bigger concerns. He meticulously thins out the vines to limit yields, all the grapes are hand-picked (a rarity in Sancerre) and brought in small boxes to the winery which is located in his garage on the Sancerre hill. There’s no doubt it’s worth the extra effort. With elegant citrus fruits, hints of wild flowers and delicate minerality, it’s a real treat with oysters or simply grilled sea bass.
