Pinot Noir is the finicky grape prized in the fine reds of Burgundy. But it also shines in Germany, with thoroughly appealing, delicious and complex reds, often at a more attractive price. The berry fruit flavours truly stand out, especially in the warmer climate of the Pfalz. Von Reben is a charmer from the award-winning Rietburg cellar. Established in 1958, they’ve had over half a century to perfect their winemaking skills, headed up today by the talented Dominik Meyer. From the gentle approach of handling the grapes, with no heavy oak in the ageing, Von Reben is delicate, with light berry fruit and a silky edge. It’s incredibly versatile and easy to enjoy. Pair with roast chicken, creamy pasta, seared tuna or simply savour on its own.
