Ferraton Père et Fils Côtes du Rhône Samorëns 2017

Cotes du Rhone AOC

Lovely complexity of leather, earth and spice in this fine Côtes du Rhône from a superb estate. The domaine's been run by the renowned Chapoutier family since 2004, with Stéphane Ogier as consultant. From a great vintage, it's drinking beautifully.

Founded in 1946, Domaine Ferraton has always been a highly regarded estate. Yet since the Chapoutiers have come on board quality has risen even higher. The Ferraton family started working with Michel Chapoutier in 1998, the latter buying the estate outright in 2004, but running it very much as an independent concern, with the family still at the helm. Oenologist Damien Brisset and the renowned Stéphane Ogier are also part of the domaine’s ‘super team’, and the result is some really impressive wines. Add in the quality of the 2017 vintage and you’ll understand the sumptuous brilliance you can expect in this wine. Grenache based with some Syrah, it's drinking very well now. Enjoy on its own or with grilled meats with roasted vegetable salad.
