The 2018 vintage was a year when hard work in the vineyard really paid off. This was during springtime, when rainfall was about double the normal. No problem in itself, but warm conditions meant growers needed to be ultra vigilant for mildew. Château Le Bournac obviously worked hard and kept it bay, judging by the lovely depth of ripe fruit in this wine. It makes delicious drinking already, but ideally open at least an hour in advance and decant. The flavours will open out and tannins will soften. Another year, it shouldn't need this. This is a classic red for roast meats. Try too with stuffed Portobello muchrooms or a rich chestnut and vegetable casserole.
