The vineyards of Domaine de Ménard are made up of fossilized oyster shells, remarkably similar to those of Chablis and Sancerre. Not only does this explain the name and label but it also gives the wine its distinct mineral complexity.
The story of Domaine de Ménard began in 1920, when Jean François Morel, a Swiss vintner, settled in Gascony to cultivate vines. Jean’s grandson Philip now devotes his time to managing the vineyard in the heart of Côtes de Gascogne
‘Cuvee Marine’ is the top wine produced at this estate and has all the intense lemony freshness you’d expect from Côtes de Gascogne but with an extra layer of minerality
A blend of Colombard, Gros Manseng and Sauvignon Blanc, at only 11.5% alcohol, it is the perfect aperitif and delicious with fish
Tasting note:”My go to supper wine with lovely fresh aromatics of gooseberry and lychee, and hints of pineapple on the palate. Zesty, fresh and very easy to drink.” Mimi Avery
