Borsao is an impressive winery located in Campo de Borja, a small wine region just east of Rioja. The team there are one of the leading Garnacha producers in the world. Why? The combination of stony soils, relatively high altitude and old bush vines means yields are tiny with small berries giving really concentrated flavour. The vines have to be harvested by hand, so only the finest grapes arrive in the cellar. This Reserva blends the generous fruit of Garnacha with the silkiness of Tempranillo and the grippy dark cassis of Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in American and French oak barrels for 12 months, there’s also a well-integrated creaminess with gentle hints of spice. With 4 years' age, it's tasty with a rich pork casserole or spare ribs.
