Portuga Vinho Verde is made by Casa Santos Lima, a Portuguese estate which has been in the same family for four generations and was ranked No. 1 on Wine Spectator’s ‘Wineries for Value’ list. The winemaker here is Diogo Sepúlveda. He has worked extensively in wineries around the world including in Pomerol and the Napa Valley, and brings that experience into the popular Portuga range. For this Vinho Verde Diogo uses grapes from vineyards cooled by the Atlantic, giving it an aromatic intensity combined with freshness and minerality. Slightly off-dry in style, it combines zesty lime, grape and mango flavours with delicate floral hints. At only 11.5% alcohol, it’s a highly refreshing white for summer drinking both on its own or with seafood.
