Two Golds for Wyfold 2013, one for 2011, Trophies for 2010 and 2009 – that's quite a tally. This elegant vintage sparkler is from a two-hectare Oxfordshire estate. Meticulous vineyard work and winemaking ensure a fine mousse and long toasty flavours.

Beyond the Label
Still young, but showing creamy notes, lemon fruit and fine bubbles
In 2003 Barbara Laithwaite and a friend planted 4,000 vines in a hectare of the Chiltern Hills. Just 10 years later, the 2009 took top prize at the prestigious Judgement of Parsons Green. Since then they have gained two Trophies, 91 Decanter points and Gold medals galore for both the Brut and the Rosé. What's more, US firm Pantone has just added English Sparkling to its repertoire of colours, basing the hue on Wyfold Brut. Barbara has now planted another hectare of vines next to the first. Crafted from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, this fine 2013 is testament to meticulous viticulture and the winemaking skills of the Ridgeview team and Barbara’s winemaker son Henry. Who needs Champagne when you've English bubbly this good?
"A great example of one of the best English Sparklings. Gives you everything you want to celebrate"
