Founded in 1977 by Irishman Dr John Lagan (hence the DJL), Xanadu is regarded one of the finest wineries of premium Margaret River. Since the beginning, this superb estate has won many prizes and still sweeps up awards at all the major shows. Most recently in 2022 James Halliday awarded them 5 Red Stars and they've won over 100 Trophies and 300 Golds since 2007. Their vineyards are ideally placed, very close to the ocean, which accounts for the racy mineral freshness of this almost-Burgundian style Chardonnay. Whole bunch pressed, with wild-yeast fermentation in part new French oak barrels, then lees aged, this is a gorgeous complex white from this small piece of paradise, named after Samuel Coleridge's poem. Open early and serve cool.
