Yarrunga Field Special Reserve White (magnum) 2021

New South Wales

The best modern Aussie whites offer an abundance of sun-ripened fruit balanced by crisp, zingy refreshment. None more so than Yarrunga Field, which has been our ‘House White’ representative for Oz for years. And it’s even more impressive in a magnum.

Yarrunga Field is as much “Aussie sunshine in a glass” (Oz Clarke/Jilly Goolden) as it was when first launched some 20 years ago. It made such a sensation then that it was featured on BBC’s Food and Drink programme and duly shot up our bestsellers chart. A few refinements have been made since then, tweaks to the mix of grapes, and the 2021 exudes fruitiness, freshness and intensity in perfect measure. At 11.5% this wine makes a terrific glassful anytime, with or without food, at a party or in the garden. There’s no doubt why so many customers keep coming back for more – it’s just so easy drinking. Emma Norbiato is current winemaker and is on top form with this latest vintage. Serve chilled on its own or with spicy stir-fry or seafood.
