The Wine
Champagne house Heidsieck was founded in 1785 by Florens Louis Heidsieck. In 1828 nephew Christian Heidsieck joined forces with Henri Guillaume Piper, and Piper Heidsieck came into being. Since then Piper Heidsieck has become one of Champagne's best-loved houses – especially with the film industry. It was known to be one of Marilyn Monroe’s favourites, was the first Champagne to be featured in a film (the 1933 Laurel and Hardy film 'Sons of the Desert') and is even the official fizz of The Oscars! Hardly surprising when you consider the host of awards this house has received. Unusual for being made with 25% red wine, which accounts for its deep colour and cherry flavours, it has toasty brioche complexity. A refined, red-carpet worthy fizz.
