The Wine
The Socheleau family are quite new to wine, but they've learnt fast. Réne was an apple grower, but his son Philippe was looking for a new direction. So, in 2001, they purchased Domaine des Deux Vallées with proceeds from selling their apple orchards. One of the first things they did was to rip out the Sauvignon and Chardonnay and replant with Chenin Blanc. Savennières is fine wine territory for this grape. One of Philippe's other talents is playing the piano, the instrument you'll find almost centre stage in the winery. For his contemplative moments. Philippe seems to capture the same harmony in his wines as his playing. In this Chenin, apple, pear and lemon notes are perfectly balanced by zesty freshness. A great glass solo or with fish.
The Socheleau family are quite new to wine, but they've learnt fast. Réne was an
Zesty-fresh Chenin, with the class of Savennières, for a fraction of the price. This wine sings!
