Enjoy 18 years maturity in this fine Crianza. It's from Jean-Marc Sauboua, a highly acclaimed Bordeaux-born winemaker, who founded his own Rioja winery in 2006. His aim was to make a Grand Cru style, using grapes from some of the region's highest vineyards. As he got started, he was offered a special parcel of grapes from friends of his. Too good to pass up, he borrowed cellar space and got started. Careful fermentation, with a year's ageing in barrel, these grapes produced a wine with lovely intensity of fruit thanks partly to an excellent Rioja vintage. Jean-Marc bottled the wine, then kept it in his new cellar, tasting it from time to time to gauge its progress. In 2023 he released it. A mellow, complex red to enjoy with simple dishes.
