Tim Atkin MW called this “a winery to watch” and since its foundation, Chakana’s wines have been receiving rave reviews. With intense ripe fruit and remarkable freshness thanks to the altitude of its vineyards, this is a deliciously appealing red.

Chakana is the brainchild of Juan Pelizzatti, originally an IT guy in Buenos Aires. In the economic crash of 2002, the government encouraged investment in land by giving considerable tax relief to investors. It seemed to be the moment for Juan to make the leap – from technology to wine. His family wasn’t new to it – his grandfather used to make wine in Piedmont. Juan founded the estate in 2002, got in some of the best in the business, and was certified both organic and biodynamic in 2016. His wines receive impressive scores from critics. The grapes for this silky, fresh Malbec are sourced from organic vineyards at 950 metres high, which brings a real vivacity to the fruit. An elegant red that’s versatile with food and tasty on its own.

"Nuna means 'soul of the land', expressed in this fine, elegant Malbec" Jehan Secaze
