The Story Behind the Bottle
The Averys 'own label' is a badge of honour and only applied to wines we think are of exceptional quality and value. Like this fruit filled Côtes du Rhône. It's an Averys exclusive created by Eric and David Martin of Domaine Martin. Their vineyards are located between the renowned villages of Châteauneuf du Pape and Gigondas. It's a rich Rhône red from a lovely vintage that landed a Gold medal. The special cuvée is Grenache dominated with a generous splash of peppery Syrah, then aged in seasoned oak casks to add layers of spicy complexity to its concentrated black fruit. Ripe and velvety, with hints of herbs and clove, this is top match with Moroccan lamb, sausage and butter bean cassoulet or at a barbecue. It's great on its own, too.
