Such was the quality in 2022 of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, that all the Cabernets at the château were used in the Grand Vin, unusual for an estate in Merlot-dominant Pomerol. Nevertheless, Merlot still makes up three quarters of the 2022 blend. As Vinous says, “the Cabernet is very expressive this year and so while it is a real Left Bank/Right Bank hybrid, it is, at the same time, quintessentially Pomerol”. This 2022 has a stunning expression of ripe black fruits while capturing the classicism of the vintage: “lots of life, balance and freshness” (Decanter). A sophisticated Pomerol, plush tannins, delicate and nuanced aromas, and a persistent finish. It will be accessible in its youth and have great ageing potential.
