The Absa Top 10 is the biggest event there is for Pinotage, so you can imagine how impressive Vondeling must be to receive a Top 10 trophy for what was only their third vintage! It's a real testament to the meticulous care that award-winning winemaker Matthew Copeland puts into his wine. Each vintage is three years in the making: after 12 months’ maturation on lees, only the best eight barrels are selected and blended, and then returned to barrel for a further six months, followed by four months in stainless-steel tank. Once bottled, the wine matures for a further year before release. The result is sensational – a gorgeously matured, modern expression of Pinotage, that's drinkable on release and has the potential for further cellaring.
