The quality of an elite producer should always be apparent in their village wines. That’s absolutely the case with Charton’s smart Bourgogne Blanc. Using grapes next door to Puligny and the wine aged on lees, it’s super-fresh with ripe lemon acidity.

The Wine
The history of the Chartron family is closely entwined with that of Puligny-Montrachet. Established in 1859, the estate has been cared for by five generations – each one extending and improving the immaculate vineyards. Our 60-year friendship gives us access to some very fine parcels. This is the family's superb old-vine Bourgogne, made largely from grapes from their Clos de la Combe vineyard, opposite the family’s cellar in Puligny. The wine is very good value. Full of bright peach and citrus flavour, it was matured on fine lees for 8 months in barrel, then for three months in vat, which has added to the complexity. Behind its golden brightness, you'll find perfumed aromas of honeysuckle and almond, and a creamy palate of yellow fruits.
