Fleurie is one of Beaujolais’ most famous crus and Christian Bernard owns some of the region’s top vineyards, situated on the famous terroirs of La Madone, Les Garands and Les Moriers. Purchased by Christian’s great grandfather in 1890, this site has produced outstanding wines with classic Fleurie character for well over a century. The Gamay vines are 40- 110 years old, these old bushes produce tiny quantities of superbly conecentrated grapes. The fruit is rich, ripe and juicy and it has a lovely silkiness of texture that makes top Beaujolais such a joy to drink. If you can, serve it cellar cool to allow the fruit to really burst from the glass and enjoy with charcuterie, cheeses or steak and frites.
