We were first introduced to the wines of Richard Rottiers by Lyne Marchive at Domaine des Malandes in Chablis. Richard is Lyne’s son and he’s understandably immensely proud of what he’s doing in Beaujolais. These are serious, age-worthy Beaujolais with “price tags that would shame much of the Côte d’Or.” (www.robertparker.com)
From 60-year-old vines this wine is named ‘Dernier Souffle’ – last breath - as the plot lies next door to the cemetery!
The soil is classic pink granite which gives a lot of minerality to the wine
“Rottier makes wonderful, life-enhancing, exuberant Beaujolais that simultaneously express their respective terroirs.” www.robertparker.com
Tasting note: A lovely mineral-infused Beaujolais with gorgeous pure berry and black cherry fruit on the nose and a soft minerality on the palate
