Pas Vu Pas Pris by Jeff Carrel 2020

Vin de France

Delicious bright peach and apple fruit in this characterful white from terrific, critic-rated winemaker, Jeff Carrel. Using Chardonnay from cooler vineyards in the Languedoc, he gets a lovely zing of freshness to balance the creamy ripe fruit.

We've been working with winemaker Jeff Carrel since the 1990s. Born in Paris, he trained as a chemist, then fell in love with winemaking, a passion he has never lost. His home turf and deep love is for southern France, just outside Carcassonne in fact. There vines grow at a reasonably high altitude, in a cooler climate to obtain just the ripeness Jeff is after. He is renown for being something of an eccentric, "effervescent and highly energetic, the bounciest winemaker we've ever met" said a South African colleague! He channels this energy into making great wines, as you'll taste here. Pure unoaked Chardonnay, it's ripe and peachy with a crisp apple and lemon zing. Chill down and serve with roast chicken, seafood pancakes or herby noodles.

"Lovely label, terrific wine. Bright, easy-drinking Chardonnay as characterful as its winemaker" Mark Hoddy
