D'Autrefois shows clearly that you can find delicious and appealing Pinot Noir at a sensible price. This is an exciting red using mostly grapes from cooler, higher vineyards in the Languedoc and a little from Burgundy. Silky, pretty berry fruit red.

The Story Behind the Bottle
Irresistible, well priced Pinot Noir. That's because its labelled Vin de France. This is an interesting category as it covers the whole of France and allows winemakers to be much more creative with their blending. So this Pinot Noir comes largely from the Languedoc with a little from Burgundy for added finesse. Whilst many Vin de France wines are simply great value, everyday drinking, the category is increasingly used by winemakers rebelling against the rules. This red comes from La Compagnie des Vins d’Autrefois, a Beaune négociant renowned for offering the widest range of estate and single domaine Burgundy. Experts with Pinot Noir, you might say! Pretty fruit, with a little spice from oak ageing, this is a great match for charcuterie.
