The Story Behind the Bottle
A prized white grape of Italy, Vermentino is difficult to find in Australia. Yet it seems to suit the climate perfectly, retaining freshness even in the heat. Fine examples can also be found in Provence, Sardinia and Corsica, and all typically display a racy, lemony and herbal character. Spotlight is the creation of Bob Berton, one of our best mates Down Under for the last 20 years. He’s friends with all the growers in Riverina, so knows exactly what grape and which vineyard is showing particularly well each vintage. That secures him a supply of the best fruit – a good start for any great wine. Packed with lemon, rosemary and passion fruit, Spotlight is best enjoyed chilled with barbecued prawns, salmon steaks or fragrant Thai dishes.
