Decanter magazine described Garnacha as "Spain's most exciting indigenous red variety." It's old bush vines produce lovely deep fruit intensity and complexity. You'll taste all that in this outstanding Gold medal winner from the mountains of Navarra.
Tucked away in the mountainous north of Navarra, you’ll find tiny plots of old vines that have been passed down the family line for generations. But times are changing. These steep terraced vineyards have to be worked by hand and yields are extremely low. Hard work and expensive to maintain, many are simply being abandonned. Fortunately, winemaker Gonzalo Celayeta has stepped in to help. He’s rescued a collection of these once-forgotten vineyards and restored them to their former glory; the result is Unsi Terrazas. Made from old vine Garnacha, aged for six months in French oak, it's an expressive red with berry fruit and hints of the wild herbs that surround the vineyard. A star with roast meats (suckling pig in Spain!) or a rich casserole.
"This old-vine Garnacha is a marvel in its powerful, yet elegant flavour. 15% yet delicate!"
