The vineyards at Vondeling are situated on a rocky granite outcrop on the slopes of the Paardeberg Mountains in Paarl. The grapes benefit from a unique microclimate with maritime breezes, cooler temperatures and a longer ripening season than most South African estates. As a result, you can look forward to complex, elegant wines with wonderful fruit purity and precision.
All the grapes for Baldrick Shiraz are hand selected and the wine spends more than a year in barrel to add complexity and richness
A versatile, vibrant and relatively full bodied red, we recommend serving with slow cooked lamb or freshly seared steak and mashed potato with caramelised onion gravy
With flavours of ripe plums, hints of pepper and roasted black olives, this is a wine that, like the Blackadder character after which it is named, is guaranteed to make you smile!
Tasting note: Deep scarlet colour with floral notes of rose petals and violets alongside hints of cinnamon spice and coriander. The palate is nicely rounded with soft tannins and plump, juicy, plum fruit.
