The Story Behind the Bottle
In 1895, Italian oenologist Federico Martinotti, from the Province of Asti, invented the world-famous method of controlled fermentation in large vats to create sparkling wines. Acquesi, founded in nearby Acqui Terme, is an award-winning winery making top-class sparkling using this method – commonly known as the charmat method. A key benefit of this approach is retaining the pure varietal aromas of the grape. This is ideal for Asti DOCG, made from the intensely aromatic Moscato Bianco grape. The bouquet is complex with orange blossom, peach, honey and citrus aromas. It’s fresh with a gentle sparkle and with a sweet, lingering finish. And at only 7% abv, it’s a great anytime wine. Delicious with spicy Asian foods or a fruit tart dessert.
