The Story Behind the Bottle
Barón de Barbón wines have always stood out for their exceptional quality and value, a fact well-known to Rioja enthusiasts. This family cellar was founded in 1926 by José Murúa Villaverde. When José retired, the winery was sold. But in 1982, his son Julián Murúa Entrena took the bold step of repurchasing the bodega to continue the family tradition – and he has with great success. Today, Julián’s talented son, Javier, has joined him. This new-release red is a rare pure Mazuelo. All the grapes come from a special vineyard in the east of the region, where warm temperatures ensure the grapes ripen well to produce a rich red with deep morello cherry fruit and a lift of wild herbs. Ideal with ragù pasta, grilled meats and pizza.
