The Story Behind the Bottle
Bee Tree is an exciting new vineyard for Dermot and Ana Sugrue, founders of Sugrue South Downs in 2006. Until then Dermot had been head winemaker at the renowned English winery, Nyetimber. Together they’ve made Sugrue South Downs one of England’s leading boutique producers. They have three different vineyards in east and west Sussex: Mount Harry Vineyard near Lewes, Coldharbour Vineyard south of Petworth and now Bee Tree Vineyard in the whimsically named Wivelsfield Green. Beehives, birdsong and ancient woodlands make this an idyllic spot, while its soils of clay and lower greensand are ideal for the Pinots. 80% Pinot Noir, plus Meunier, this delicious pink fizz has delicate berry fruit, intense freshness and a toasty finish.
