Flavour Profile
Agoston Haraszthy left his native Hungary in 1857 in search of the perfect place to make wine. He finally settled in Sonoma, California – styling himself The Count of Buena Vista – and established the region’s first premium winery.
Count Agoston sadly met his end 12 years later when he fell into a crocodile-infested river in Nicaragua – but not before earning his reputation as California’s most flamboyant and acclaimed winemaking pioneer.
Today, the winery is owned and run by Jean-Charles Boisset – one of Burgundy’s most respected producers. A fitting successor to the self-styled Count, he’s often called the ‘James Bond of wine’ for his energetic personality.
The Buena Vista California Chardonnay is the perfect introduction to this historic estate. Lively and generous with ripe fruit and a whisper of oak – beautifully presented with the estate’s signature label. It’s a dream with simple roast chicken, creamy pasta or a crisp Caesar salad. Or just pour a glass and enjoy with good company on a quiet evening.
