Caroso Montepulciano Riserva 2017
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC
Loading...

We know Chianti Riserva, but it's very rare to find a Montepulciano Riserva in the UK. Usually this grape makes juicy fruit reds for early drinking. This gorgeous complex red, using old vine fruit and long barrel aged, has lots of silky complexity.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Story Behind the Bottle
The Abruzzo is one of the loveliest regions of Italy. It lies on the central eastern coast, where the sea and the mountains meet. It's top red grape is Montepulciano, renowned from this region for being deliciously supple and easy drinking, as well as great value. This Riserva shows how the best wines can age magnificently too. Crafted from 100% Montepulciano, hand-picked from vines between 20-40 years old, it is rich with deep cherry and plum fruit. As a Riserva, it must be aged for a minimum of two years – of which six months must be in barrel. This has had much longer in oak – two years – with extended bottle ageing too. It makes a terrific wine with strong cheeses, truffle or mushroom risotto or with roast meats and borlotti bean stew.
