The Story Behind the Bottle
Founded by Alphonse Pierlot in 1812, Laurent Perrier is a family-owned Champagne house with a long and rich history. Marie-Louise Lanson de Nonancourt, who managed the company during the Second World War, once hid 100,000 bottles behind a wall to protect them from German soldiers, and a couple of years later one of her sons, Army sergeant Bernard de Nonancourt, helped break into Hitler’s retreat in the Bavarian Alps – where he discovered half a million bottles of wine. Among them were several hundred cases of very expensive Champagne that he had watched being stolen five years earlier! With its fine mousse and lively flavours of wild strawberries, raspberries and ripe cherries, this lovely pink fizz will lift the joy at any celebration.
