The Story Behind the Bottle
Roederer’s Collection Series is their superb NV Brut revisited for the 21st century. Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon is the genius behind the winemaking. Boasting 240 hectares of Premier and Grand Cru vineyards, he has a wealth of high-quality grapes to work with. In 2012, he started building a ‘Perpetual Réserve’ – a blend of wines from 2012 with a little of the new vintage added each year. It brings richness and breadth, both in flavour and texture, to the final blend. This makes up 35% in the 246, while the normal reserve wine comprises 10% and a small portion was fermented in oak for even more richness. It’s a wonderfully racy, mineral-fresh fizz, with bright notes of citrus, nectarine, plum even and buttery brioche notes.
