Flavour Profile
Château Suduiraut was named after Leonard de Suduiraut, a Bordeaux parliamentarian whose family owned the estate until the end of the 18th century. The vineyard is located on the highest hill in Sauternes, next door to Château d’Yquem.
The 2023 vintage in Bordeaux saw a mix of conditions, with late frosts, a warm, dry spring and high temperatures and rainfall in July followed by a cool, overcast start to August. The harvest saw three separate pickings, taking place between 18th September and 17th October, with a dry, hot start to the harvest and the arrival of rain in late September bringing the noble rot essential for great Sauternes.
A generous vintage with distinct acidity and a classic botrytised character, it offers aromas of ripe peach and Mirabelle plum, with a very fine minerality. The palate brings a medley of baked apple, candied lemon, bergamot and candied orange flavours, before a long, velvety finish with notes of candied fruit and gingerbread. Enjoy on its own or, traditionally, with blue cheeses or foie gras.
