Flavour Profile
If you’re looking for a powerful, charming Bordeaux red with plenty of dark fruit flavours, look no further than Château Thieuley Réserve Francis Courselle.
For our chief winemaker Jean-Marc Saubous, winemaking runs in the family and it’s no surprise that his nieces Sylvie and Marie Courselle are also talented winemakers. They have worked at the prestigious Chivite in Spain and the Langedoc’s prized Domaine de l’Hortus.
Together they run the family’s Château Thieuley, where this made this top vintage Bordeaux red. It’s a tribute to their dad, Francis, who was key in modernising Bordeaux’s white wines and passed his skill and passion onto his daughters.
Made using mostly Merlot, with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, this is an intense, aromatic red. It’s brimming with juicy blackberry and plum fruit with aromatic cedar and hints of anise. A great pairing with roast venison, duck, rich chicken dishes or aged cheeses.
