The Wine
Domaine Bott-Geyl is an exceptional estate in beautiful, sun-filled Alsace. Owner Jean-Christophe Bott is a direct descendant of the 18th-century founder, Jean Martin Geyl. The domaine was certified organic in 2000 and biodynamic two years later, so now the vineyards are treated as one living organism, the health of which determines that of the grapes and the consequent purity of flavour in the wine. Their Riesling Mandelberg, named after its almond-tree-covered hill, is from an exceptional southeast-facing vineyard, planted on soils of limestone pebbles, ideal for bringing out Riesling’s freshness, suppleness and minerality. A white with power and weight, candied lemon notes, raciness and mineral complexity. Drink now or cellar.
