The Story Behind the Bottle

Rarely do you see Swiss Chasselas in the UK. And to find one as good as Domaine de Chantegrive for such a good price is almost unheard of.

Chasselas is Switzerland’s finest white grape, and the locals drink almost all of it. In fact, domestic demand is so high, only around 1% of Swiss wine is exported. What does make it overseas is famously expensive – unsurprising as those steep vineyards are very labour intensive. Which makes this discovery all the more special.

Domaine de Chantegrive lies on an exceptional site, on the limestone slopes of Lake Geneva, with incredible views across to Mont Blanc. Sixth-generation winemaker Julien Rolaz recently joined the family estate and is keen to share his wines with the whole world, not just the Swiss.

It’s full of that hallmark Alpine purity and freshness with hints of crunchy green apples, blossom and zesty citrus. Crisp and mineral-fresh, it pairs beautifully with summer salads or creamy chicken dishes.
